I'm liking #2, but would have been better (maybe?) if the on-lookers were actually looking on instead of everywhere else.

Okay, I'm not a full-time pro but I do shoot weddings and here are my thoughts:
#1 is poorly framed (can't see the front of the car, B&G's feet are nearly chopped off) and no-one is looking at you. Looks like you were the second shooter and couldn't find a good angle. Sorry.
#2 is a bit better (nice shallow DOF too) but not being able to see the bride's face is a bit disappointing and again, the lack of anyone looking at you makes it hard to be involved in the image.
Keep at it!

I am a full time pro, not that that's worth anything. You can make good images or you can't, I don't care about the rest.
1. Why aren't they looking at you if you were the photographer?
2. You were too high up, i'd like to see a half length or full length of them if I can see a full length of the people in the background. Exposure/effect looks funny too.
Overall - keep practicing - not as primary photographer either.

Tim that is a very analytical Criticism kindly appreciated! what do you mean the exposure looks funny ? please explain! nope i wasn't the main photographer on the day! i was just invited as a guest but as a novice photographer you take your camera everywhere and just practice (hopefully i just get better and better at it) lets hope!!!

I like #1 - I think it's hard just being a guest to get good photos because the couple aren't really looking at your camera and you don't have the control that you normally would on posing, lighting etc... Keep it up and maybe try to assist another photographer - practice is key in my opinion.

White balance is wrong for the people in the background, but the foreground's ok. Main problems are you can't see faces (typical for kiss shots), and you needed to be lower.

Ahhh... you made it sound like you were the main shooter, hence my comments. If you were just snapping away around the action your angles make total sense (though Tim's suggestions on how to improve them are still good). All the best.

White balance is wrong for the people in the background, .
Tim, how do you make the decision on why the white balance is incorrectly set? How do you distinguish what is correct white balance ? what obvious characteristics identifies that the white balance is not correctly balanced in this image?
cheers

If the people look orange, blue, or white, instead of pink, the white balance is wrong - it's that simple. I suspect you were using fill flash, flash is a very white light. Then again maybe it's all accurate and i'm off base, so wait for a 2nd opinion.

You were spot-on Tim. It may be the action you ran in PS. I saw these pics last time and you made it sound like you were the main photog. Anyway, I can't add anymore than what's already been said. Just confirming that your WB looks off on my screen too.

WB is a tricky one when you don't have a calibrated screen. The colours you're seeing on your screen might make the photos look fine. There are a few different software and hardware options for screen calibration that might be worth looking at.

Even as a second shooter, move around and find the best angles. The way the second shot is set up, it looks like the primary would have gotten a very similar shot. Your angle isn't great because it's head on with the bride and it makes her neck look... well... not quite wonderfully fantastically excellent.
Why not change it up and do something totally different? Run to the side and make it so the B&G are on one side of the frame and the party is on the other. Grab a telephoto, run a good distance away (so you're not in the primary's shot), lay on the ground and frame the couple in the space between a bridesmaid and groomsman. I dunno, just anything different. I love second shooting because you can do stupid stuff because nobody is relying on you for good, solid, standard shots.

I do to see any WOW's in these pictures, sorry. They are OK pictures and maybe in need of improving- may be a lot.
Picture #1 - I do not see any WB problem on my screen and there is nothing wrong with people not looking at you. With PJ style, most of the time, they do not look at you or your camera.
In this shot, it looks like they were watching something going on to the right of the screen - whatever it is. So it is nice in that aspect.
However, I did not like the composition. The background is too crowded; the kids face cut off; there is a man behind the groom kissing his bald head; there is a white sign coming out of the head of the man in the back. There is a car sitting on the shoulder of the woman in the back. There is a Coke lid -I think- on the ground.
Picture #2 - Not completely bad and not completely super either. It is good the background is blurred but still it is not the best background for this shot. The thing I hate most is the ugly lines on the bride's neck. Should have healed them out. The main subjects which are the B+G should have been the focus and they are not. They are too small and crowded out by the background people. The focus is on the group in the back especially on the guy in the middle, not the BG. We should be looking at them and go aaaww; not wondering who the heck this old guy is.
What actions did you use anyway?
