Well, it's kind of a tough call in my opinion. the S410 has fewer problems with noise at ISO 200 and above due to the S500 pushing out a Megapixel more resolution from the same sensor. Often these noise issues can be fixed with post processing, so that usually isn'ta big problem. In the S500's favor, it can produce a megapixel more resolution and it supports 640x480 movie mode (though at reduced frames per second).

I ended up going with the S500 for about $50 to $70 more. I wanted more resolution (I didn't care about the movie mode increase).
