View Full Version : More Artifacts in CS RAW Conversions

For the past few months, I have been doing a series of RAW image conversion comparisons using C1LE and CS. Up until yesterday I experienced no significant differences between the two. There were differences in the conversions but they were a matter of interpretation and taste.

Then I did some RAW conversions of High ISO (1600) images and there was a big difference between the two. The CS conversions were full of artifacts that the C1 conversions did not display. The differences were even more pronounced after cleaning the images with Noise Ninja.

Has anyone else noticed these things?

Yes, but I've only compared CS to FVU. CS is "a bit" noisier. Careful when you bring up any critique of CS, there are some around who are apparently in a PS CS cult of perfection. I've not tried it against C1.

I just did a quick test with default settings on both. The PS CS is definitely noisier and does appear to have more artifacts. Noise reduction could help with one, but I'm not sure of the other.

Yes! Long thread about this; sample images toward the end:
