I am wondering if there is another tripod ring aside from the expensive white one that fits this lens. I see the one they list is the tripod ring A-2. I have the tripod ring A (B) (the black one ) from my 200 f/2.8 L and it does not fit. I am hoping someone can help as I do not think the more I spend the better it works, necessarily and I hate to spend 143.95 for one if I con't have to.
Thanks

you can get a knock-off on ebay for quite a bit cheaper. why would you need to use a zoom with 4-stop IS on a tripod?

I purchased one for my non-is off ebay. It works quite well.

Well, when taking night photos at 8-10 second exposure, IS does no good. You need a tripod.

I have the one from my 200 which fit the non-IS 70-200 f/4, but does not fit the IS version. I would assume the same would go for the ebay version.

Are you sure about this? The 70-200 f/4 IS and non-IS lenses are supposed to take the same size tripod ring. The one from my 300mm f/4 (non-IS) used to fit my old 70-200 f/4 (non-IS) and it now fits the IS version I replaced it with.

the two 70-200L f4 lenses are the same size so i would think they take the same tripod ring.

OP, see my link here on the eBay units http://www.pbase.com/lightrules/image/70883547/original
The t-collar will work with both 7-2 f4 lenses, the 300 f4 non-IS, and the 400 f5.6. It also fits the Magic Drainpipe (80-200).

I just know the one from my 200 f/2.8L which is supposed to fit the 70-200 f/4 surely does not fit the new IS version.

Yeh, we've got the week planned out (halfway over at this point). Wailea is set for Thursday and that whole area. Tomorrow is Lahaina/Kaanapali/Kapalua. Maui Ocean Center was pretty nice today. Tykes are happy at least. Sorry to the OP for this side-track. :D
