At the British F3 today and heavily used both cameras, 300mm, 100-400, 50 1.4 and 17-40. The latter were used in the paddock and garages. Here are some samples. No adjustments other than the conversion from RAW to TIFF then re-size and convert to JPG for the web.
It was a very busy day. Met two pros that use N**** who have ordered MK-II's and told me they think N**** will never keep up with Canon and their MK-II just can't come soon enough. I must say, motorsport photography here in the UK is dominated by Canon and you see lots of 70-200, 100-400 and 300's.

Kenny, really cook shots! I'm just amazed at how well you can handle all those big lenses and 2 bodies with just your two hands.
But I do have a much more important question to ask you, though. How did your new vest work out?

Excellent shots, Kenny. You've got great command of those two cameras.

Worked out well. No comments from my fellow photogs about it being too new. Even had a couple of high-energy drinks in one of the inside pockets. Much better padded on the shoulders and neck than the Tamrac which really helps when you are hauling a lot of gear around.
There was a well known photog at the racing today and he didn't have a hood on his 200 2.8, but that didn't stop him parking it front down on the tarmac. His 1D looked like it had been used for taget practice by a tank buster. However, from what I saw when he was chimping (even the best do it), his shots were just outstanding. I asked how he coped with dust on the sensor, '"dust, never cleaned it in two years". I believe him.
As far as using two cameras is concerned, I may be going up to three (selling wife, kidneys and rest of body to medical science). Well, the 10D is going to the wife (assuming she is not sold to slavery) when my MK-II arrives, but I will borrow it off her for the bigger events. That should virtually stop my lens swapping.

Beautiful shots Kenny. Beautiful color and crisp detail. I hope to get that good.

Kenny, terrific shots. If I may, what class/make is the car in the third shot?

I agree with the rest, excellent shots, Kenny. What vest did you get? I do a lot of event stuff too and have considered getting a belt system so I can carry some of my stuff on my waist rather than my shoulder. What vest and do you think it would over heat you in the summer?

It is a Radical - www.radicalmotorsport.com Look like mini Le Mans cars and go like rockets. I want one for next season.

Kenny I noticed that you favour the 10D for still shots and the 1d for moving, is this because you don't trust the AF on the 10D so much?

I assume that padded shoulders would be a necessity to cushion the recoil from that MKII's 8.5 fps

Wow! KennyG, you are my hero!
Not only do you post great photos, but you also open up a great new strategy....
Y'know, honey, how much I love motorsports ... So maybe next year I'll get myself one of these Radical racing cars to participate in the series ... What do you say? Too dangerous?
... sigh ... well, maybe you're right and I'll just get one of those MKII cameras and some nice lenses instead ... would you prefer that?
Best regards,
Andy
