hola everyone,

I have an S2 and would like to take shots in rapid succession. Lets say you want to catch an "action shot". I would like to hit the button, take several shots in a row very rapidly, in the hopes that a couple are clear, nice pics.

I know nothing of photography. What settings should I be playing with to practice for this? And what should I be doing to maximize the chances that a couple of my pictures come out nice.

thanks in advance

Check the 'continuous shooting' section in the manual, page no. 62.

I haven't had a reason to shoot continuously and have only done it while playing around to learn my camera (S2), but I did notice something that differs from the manual. It says that you cannot shoot continuously if you have the camera set to full resolution and superfine quality, but I've found that at least with my SanDisk Ultra 2 card, this isn't true. I can't discern any difference in performance at these settings.

As far as other camera settings, as long as you can shoot with a reasonably fast shutter speed you should be able to do just about anything you want.

i don't recall the manual saying that.... what i do remember, is that it said something about slow cards, and if you're shooting rapid burst (2 - 2.5 fps), at super fine + max res = 2 mb files averge, we are talking about 5-6 mb writing speeds (i know it's not 5-6, but just 2 be sure, and illustrate my point) per second... so slower and "more standard" cards, might not be up to that kind of transfers...

You do need the faster card to do that. I originally had a regular SD card and couldn't do movies or continuous shooting; once I bought my SD II card, it kept up just fine. When I was in Vegas this past fall, I took a pretty long succession of shots of the Bellagio fountains and they came out rather nicely. It worked well.
