1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed.

14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently.

7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs.

6 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb"

Another 6 to condemn those 6 as stupid.

2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp".

15 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and that "light bulb" is perfectly correct.

19 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a light bulb forum.

11 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant to this forum.

36 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and what brands are faulty.

5 People to post pics of their own light bulbs.

7 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs.

4 to post that the URL's were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL's.

13 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add "Me too".

5 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy.

4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"

13 to say "do a search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs".

1 to bring politics into the discussion by adding that George W. isn't the brightest bulb.

4 more to get into personal attacks over their political views.

1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again

4 to post that it is their constitutional right to change a light bulb.

3 to argue that all light bulbs should be banned

1 moderator to lock the light bulb thread.

I was going to be a smartass, but these are actually pretty funny/good. I'd say they're accurate of most major forums. Is this original, or did you "borrow" it from something else?

7 people complaining that the changed bulb is "soft"
2 people saying that it's either front or back lighting
4 people complaining about vignetting of the room corners
5 people complaining that someone else's lightbulb is brighter than theirs
1 person to say "back in my day, we used to use candles"

or to add to that line
6 people to tell others, "I dont measurbate my lightbulbs, I simply take them out into the field and test them."
17 people wondering why lightbulb companys have poor quality control over their products. Yet cant give any proof of bad quality control stats that they claim they or someones dogs owners cousin have seen and told their mailmans brothers wifes friend...that told them
2 people that have correct ways to test a "soft" lightbulb then recommend sending it in to get calibrated.

Of course, lets not forget:

26 to make recommendations on the top-of-the-line $50 LED Array lightbulb (http://www.besthomeledlighting.com/product/G32-120-E27-70-W)as the only way to go.
12 to say the storebrand bulb works just as well and will save you a bundle.
8 to say they exchanged their storebrand bulb because the filament was de-centered.
16 to say using GE bulbs in a Sylvania socket is asking for trouble.
5 to recommend cleaning your bulb with a swab kit to get the best performance from it.
29 to ask how many switch activations are typical for a particular bulb.
16 to ask how to figure out how many switch activations their newly acquired used light bulb has been through.

Sorry, but I'm a noob here and have a possible stupid question. I've done a search but can't find what I'm looking for.Seems my room looks rather flat and a heavy shadow is cast behind my lit subjects. I'm using a 100W lightbulb centered on the cieling. Should I rather go with a 60W bulb on cieling plus two 40W lightbulbs in lamps in opposing corners or should I just keep the one I have but go to a dimmer switch? Need an answer fast as I have a big event there tomorrow...

4 to start new threads posting their econo model DIY light bulb designs.

3 to reply to those threads claiming the author is really committing piracy and infringing on the rights of the original light bulb maker by posting their versions.

1 to post that he is holding the light bulb hostage for pizza, threatening physical harm to the bulb and posting bad mockups of such harm.

35 to reply to the "kidnapper" demanding some **real** carnage.

1 to post a photo of what happens when your 500 watt halogen meets the concrete floor. I know what happens. I had twin 500 watt halogens fall over in the garage. One shattered into tiny little beads and the bulb fell out. I, without thinking picked up the bulb as it still looked ok. I felt nothing, but the telltale hiss and the small puff of smoke emanating from my fingers told me that I had done a bad thing. I willed my nerve synapses to shut down. "Do not under any circumstances pass the message" I tried to say. But my nerves said, no, you need to know about this, Mr. brain needs needs to know that he acted stupidly and they urgently passed the message forth. By the time I fully realized that the sizzling and smoking meat was not dinner the damage was complete. The four letter words flowed and I believe I even invented some new ones. Boy, did that one hurt.

Similar story:

I was in my highschool Autoshop class and we were working on my truck. I needed to remove my rear bumber and for some reason the people that installed my exhaust decided to weld it to the rear bumber support that attaches to the frame. We got out the torch and cut the bracket used to hold the exhaust to the bumber support. The cut went smooth but a piece of the bracket was dangling so I reached up and pushed it with my thumb to completely knock it loose (the metal was even still glowing red at the other end :o ). Yes, it hurt like you know what.

1 to ask if the lightbulb supports E-TTL and wireless flash

6 to complain that manual and pocket wizards and radio remotes are the only way to go

3 to ask which Stofen model fits

19 to complain that you are charging less than $5000 to change the lightbulb and are therefore stealing the bread out of the mouth of working professionals

8 to argue that "those who would change lightbulbs themselves would never have paid for it anyway"

12 to respond angrily that "it doesn't help, it's still stealing our market anyway"

2 to post that their lightbulb photos have been scanned and posted on myspace and who should they sue for copyright infringement

3 to offer constructive solutions on how to adapt to a changing business climate

8 present a 'digital' lightbulb alternative and recommend that the rest give away copies of their lightbulbs

45 to start a flame war

3 mods to intervene, ban 5 people and lock the thread :D

8 to say this is not so because of the failings of the human eye.

5 to complain that dimmer switches cause radio freq interference and this harms your computer.

3 to say the tin foils hats actually prevent brain damage from the RFI

6 to say that light bulbs are just a government conspiracy.

I am so stoked, the brown truck has just left and I have my dream in my hands :-)

I could not resist this so had to shoot off a few. (I then took some pictures :o )

Apologies for the quality but I am too excited to bother getting the settings right and of course I had to use my old and inferior light bulb to take this picture.

I know it is only the 60W but at this stage in my photography career I figure that the 100W would be too much for me to handle.

Wooo Hoooo Yehaaa !!!!!!!!!!

I am now sitting back waiting to bask in all the "Congrats" posts that I know are going to follow.....

Maybe Neil's has IS and is worth a tad more??

Sorry, Wanda, but if you look closely at the manuacturers code in the plate, it's obvious it's the standard version with no IS ;). I agree that for IS, that would be a great price, but not for the standard version. I mean, it's only standard pearl glass, it's not like it's the 'soft glow' version, either! I mean really.

Mark, Don't you need voltage regulators and adaptor plates over in NZ, not to mention a bulb inverter for it to work upside down there ;) - could that be the reason they're more expensive - I mean, it's not like any glass manufacturer to actually try to rip you off, is it :p

How in the world do they work, anyway? How do you screw them in? Do those little tabbies on the side hold them in?

see that's the problem, they get shipped with extra stuff that I never use :) All I do is stand on my head and then they work fine

It is the new "push and twist mount" as we Brits can't be doing with all that screwing

Very efficient and all, but don't you miss out on a lot? I mean, in the old days all that screwing was an integral part of the process! Sure you get the same effects, but is it still art? It just wouldn't be the same without the screwing.
