Jamie Foxx's "concert" was weird. It was split into a comedy section and a singing section. I was allowed two minutes of the comedy section and two songs of the singing section. I was the only photographer and they monitored me closely ... they sent the talent buyer to stop me after the second song because they saw me chimping and thought I was shooting.
His comedy portion is very sexually explicit, which while I am not offended, didn't seem particularly worthwhile: been there, done that! During my two songs of the singing I was wearing earplugs and left immediately afterward so I have no clue about his musicality. He did start with a nice visual effect during the singing using low (cold) smoke.
I used the Project Seven gallery generator and let it resize and build all images and thumbnails but I don't think it does an optimal job and it removes the EXIF, sigh. Overall, not a lot of good lighting and I'm not impressed with my results:

Overall they look good to me Dwight especially for such a short time to shoot. You can't be too selective or creative with only two songs.

Well, I try to operate under the "no excuses" rule as best I can. I don't think that Dreamweaver/Fireworks does as good a job as LightRoom/PS CSn, but I wanted to see if it was acceptable, but I don't think so. So, on the ZZ Top that I just threw up I reverted to a more "hand finished" process again.

I'm not a Jamie Foxx fan, but there are some shots here that I like. Didn't you say in one of your posts that the casino spent over 50K on a lighting system?

Yes, over $750K, but when the talent brings their own LD they most often don't get more an marginal effect from the system. The Jo Dee Messina guy did a superb job, but generally when our LD runs the lights there is significantly better visual pop! So, it's not that the lighting technology isn't available, it's just not used to best effect all the time. It is also the case that sometimes the talent brings their own lights and uses them ... it is just a case of using what they are used to having as they have limited time to get acustomed to the system and for most it is not worth the extra effort.

Nice pictures! I've never been a fan of his stand-up (post-In Living Color), but he is a tremendous talent when it comes to singing and his skills on the piano. Looks like a fun show!

Phew, please don't sweat on the pictures!
You can come help any time but I can't get you into the casino and you might have to stack up a bit behind the other 213 people who want to be my assistant.
#3 is a bit soft ... he was moving back forth across the whole width of the stage continuously (when he wasn't fondling himself or pretending to be a woman fondly herself!) so I think it is a little motion blurring.
Number 6 is great.
Thank you.

I didn't either ... and I didn't know he sang!

Whoa, and I'm 30 years older (give or take) which is why I didn't know!
I did forget to mention that you can see my gallery of about 30 images, which contains several nearly identical shots for reasons too hard to explain, here http://dwightmccann.com/ChumashCasinoResort/JamieFoxx04192007.html

I like the collage. Not sure about the lettering though. and the dat looks (but probabely isn't) slightly off center.
#2 is nice, but you're right about the light: could be better (throughout the set)
#3 The look is so-so. Not 'comedy'. Dunno why.
#4 nice, but I'd crop closer. (as well for getting closer as for centering the spot.)
#5 Maybe clone out the speaker cable?
#6 Nice, but see above.
#7. Bit 'grayish'. The one in the collage looks better.
Anyone got a tissue for Kathy? ;)

Thanks again, Rene ... the whole show was odd as long as I stayed. I do think he has a lot of talent but it seemed like a shotgun approach and I think he could have improved the show by cutting out the comedy part. If you go look at the gallery you can see several shots similar ... one of the few shows where white balance was really an issue ... not because of huge orange/magenta-ness but because of a sort of smog-like brownish cast to my eye.
Again, Calico, thank you and it's nice to see you about!

I recognize Jamie, but know little of his act... comedy or music... Would love to hear him on the piano...
The stage shot and close up is superb... And the full body pics have great personality...

It all depends where and how a person is raised I guess. His music is playing on my laptop now.
