I am borrowing a G6 and trying to photograph jewelry with it on the Macro setting. Is this camera even able to take "great" looking photos for a website. I am not familiar with them at all. If anyone has any setting suggestions that would be a lot of help. I do not know any of the abreviations or terminology. Thanks in advance,
Wes

P.S. I think I may be in over my head. :o

Lighting is the key. Go to the the "Small Flash and Studio Lighting" forum and open the DIY Projects thread. Go to the bottom link about Building a Cheap Lightbox. Look through the whole thread to get some great ideas. It's easy and cheap to build one.

You've just recieved some very good advice from gnb40.
If the camera were yours, it would be worthwhile picking up a lens adapter to screw some close up filters onto as well. ;)

A polarizing filter can help to reduce some unexpected reflection.

I would also suggest that you purchase a copy of "Light: Science & Magic". I don't have a copy myself yet (checked it out from the library), but it's packed with information. Treat each chapter as an exercise, and try to duplicate all the photos.
