Hi!

My name is Christina and I live in Sweden and I am a new member here.
I have just bought a Canon PowerShot A75 and I have trouble connecting it to my laptop (Fujitsu Siemens pentium 4).

I have downloaded everything and the manual says that when I do connect the camera with the USB cable a CAMERA WINDOW will appear.
In my case this doesn't happen.
I have tried to upload it from the start menu (Canon Utilities - Camera Window 4.6 - Set Camera Window) BUT it says that it is already running.
What has happened? Why isn't that window appearing so I can choose the programs and start downloading the images?
What can I do?

I am VERY frustrated at the moment.
I do not know many things about computers and digital cameras so any help you could give me would be GREAT!

Thank you!
Sincerely,
Christina

I don't know about this camera, but have you tried this:

(computer is off)

1. connect cable
2. put camera on (set it to Data Transfer mode if there is such a mode)
3. put computer on.
4. wait for the camera window to open.

With USB the order of doing things is very important.

My A70 has the same problem...

What have I done? Now I have an HP printer with a built-in CF reader so I've just to put the CF into and it's seen as an hard disk :D

So my suggestion is to buy a CF reader ;)

Bye.
PS. sorry for my poor english

Thanks for both of your tips...

I have been trying EVERYTHING the whole day and no progress... It detects the camera BUT no camera window and no contact with the camera.
I have even installed EVRYTHING on an other computer (my friend's computer) and everything worked as it should!

SO, it is MY computer that ****s EVERYTHING up! -and it is a VERY new laptop... :(

We'll see what happens..
But if you still have ANY other solutions or tips please inform me...

Thank you!

Have you tried:

My Computer>Canon PowerShot>Right Click Properties>Get Pictures ?

I had the same problem. First of all, download the driver from the Canon website to make sure you have the latest one. Then you have to start the driver. Click on my computer or one of your photo editing programs and open it before you connect your camera. This will start the driver. Then set the camera to monitor mode, plug it in and turn it on. That should do it. It works for me.

The Camera window on my machine pops up at the moment when I turn on the Canon A70 (that has been previously connected over USB), so make sure that you turn it on.

You can download all the manuals here (http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=145&modelid=8776). I've forgotten most everything about my (big brother to the A70) A80. IIRC you set it in picture review mode though.

Hi brontto!

Which Operating System do you use?
If XP SP2 you shouldn't have any problem. This OS has a lot of USB device drivers as well as A75's. I have A95 but it works with every XP SP2 machine!
