On a recent trip to Boston, my hubby surprised me with a 10-22 mm Wide angle lens. NICE!!
I came home from work today, to pack for our trip tomorrow to Chicago, as our son is graduating from Boot Camp on Friday!!! I walk in the door, and on the table is a box. But not just an ordinary box. Its a Canon box. My first thought is, did I do that? Did I leave a box on the table, and no remember? Then I see a red "L".. I'm like - HOLY CRAP!!!
I can't believe it!!! He went to DC today, and went to Penn Camera and came out with a 70-200 f/4 L IS USM!!!!! as a surprise for me for our trip!!!!!
WOO-HOO!! My first L!! 'sigh'.:D :D :D :D
oh yeah, the saleman told my hubby, "be warned, my friend, once she goes "L", she'll never go back". !!!!!!!!
PS. Oh yeah- no PP whatsoever on the tulip...!!!!! (altho the first one could use it; since the "L" baby was taken with a kit lens!!!
Here it is!!

Congratulations! (and nice job on the tulips, too!)
If I ever came home and found a Canon box on the table I'd have to duck and run, since it would mean my wife found my "stash".
My first "L" (70-200 2.8L) is on it's way, due to arrive tomorrow.

It is amazing how clear that is!!! Now, ya'all have to understand, my hubby knows nada about photography!!! His idea is to point the camera sort of towards the subject, and fire away... But even he was amazed at the clarity!!!!!!:D

Well. The lighting was basically crappy!!! At first, the light seemed Ok for an F/4. After all the Recruits entered, it was as though their Cracker Jacks ate the spare light up!!!! It was hard to get the settings right, without losing too much detail.
So, here are a few photos, which I felt came out pretty darn decent. the color and vividness of this lens is awesome!!!
I am still glad i am the proud owner of an "L" lens!!! :D :D

Oh, my, yes!! i was one happy babblin, blubbering mess!!!!!!
I also have a Canon 75-300 IS USM, and after using that, swore i'd never go back to non IS. Even if the situation calls for 'not using ' IS, you can turn it off!! That is the beauty of it!! The "L" 70-200 is far superior in quality to the 75-300, but i now need some extension things!!! I do miss that extra 100mm!!!!! I find the vividness with the 'L' is incredible, and very apparent!!!! Like I mentioned in an earlier post; my hubby couldn't tell you the difference between a 10-22 wide angle and a nify fifty, but he saw with great conviction, how vivid the "L"is!!!!! So, to me, that is a great testament in itself!!!!!!!! the salesman told my hubby when he bought it- "You're in for it now. Once she goes "L", she'll never go back" !!!! He is right!!!! The extra money is well worth the luxary glass. And it just feels good. It fits nicely in my hands, even without the camera attached!! It is smooth, soothing and it now loves me, too!!!!!!!!!! :D

BTW, Jostel...I found my 70-200 f4L USM to be a tad short still at the long end. If you feel the same way, that's nothing a 1.4X Kenko or Canon would not fix.

The Kenko or the Canon both work great, the advantage of the Kenko is that you can use it on lenses shorter than Canon will demand for an additional Benjamin Franklin. You lose one stop with the lens on, but the extra 80mm reach on a 200mm is worth it I think.
