These are shots from my first week with my new G7. This is the first camera I've ever owned. I'm having a lot of fun but have so much to learn it's a bit overwhelming. I took a photography class around 25 years ago in Junior high school and remember nothing :( But I'm having fun and I guess that is what counts.

Those are really impressive pics.
'On my back porch' is brilliant. It's just a shame you chopped the top off the spire :(

Thank you very much. I appreciate the encouragement. I'm going to read a few books and keep shooting, I can't wait until I understand exposure better and am really able to get the most out of the G7, I really like it, no more buyers remorse I think I made the right decision. I actually ordered and then cancelled the F40fd. I still think that might be a nice camera to have, but ultimately I'd like to get a DSLR and I think the G7 will help me prepare to use one effectively. Thanks again and thanks for the steeple tip, that is off of my back deck I'll have to wait until it's calm and try again.

You could have fooled me that this was your very first camera! ;)

I agree the building shot with the reflection is very nice, as are the macro shots of the flowers. I also noticed the essential duck shots.

If you haven't already, I would recommend picking up a copy of Bryan Petersen's "Understanding Exposure". Easy to understand and a wealth of information and examples for the beginner:
