I didn't get to see any of these guys last year so I was pretty happy today to see them , they were pretty skittish and with only a 200 lens these are a bit of a crop , allthough I'm happy with them I hope to get abit closer next time , C & C welcome

Wayne these are very nice. I've got only one shot of this species (through some cattails) so I"m hoping to get some better shots this summer.

Nice pics! The ones on your gallery are nice too.
Did you use the 200 for all of them or did you use the 70-300 for some?
These are some of the best Bird/wildlife shots that I have seen w/ the XT. How do you like it?

~David

PS It looks like the American tree sparrow in your Gallery Has a Club foot (deformed). :(

Great series Wayne, your first shot is my favorite. We don't see the Green Herons in our area.

First Thanx Marc , rrdj , Sindri and Kevin , I appreciate your kind comments

David all were taken with the XT , Ive had it for just over a year now and enjoy it immensely , I only use the 200 when I'm in the field the 300 just seems to keep my backpack balanced , I think I may have used it 5 times since I bought it ,,, The tree sparrow probably has a deformity , Ive seen that a few times in birds I will go look cause I don't remember noticing it before ,,, thanx also for your very kind comments

One of my favorite birds there Wayne. I have yet to see them in the usual places here in Florida. Your shots remind me of how much I enjoy them. Nice set. :)

Nice trio of images and the colors show up so nicely on the shot with the spread wings.

I think I know where you have been Wayne:D I have seen a couple of green herons myself over the past two days. Man they look tinier than last year:confused:

I'm licking my chops for a try at these guys...I missed them last year. Although its too bad the Heron is flying away it still shows the wing colors and patterns nicely.

nicely done Wayne. My wife's description of a greenie on day to a novice: "a football with a beak on green legs"
