My nightshots come out bad, any tutorials/tips? (S3)

First, im not sure if this is the correct forum for the Canon S3, its not a compact or a DSLR, so this forum is in the middle.

I am having a hard time taking night shots. Anyone have any tips/tricks or tutorials?
