Well, I just read up on these and my book says they will swarm in their thousands after breeding season and they are all through your and my areas, but I've never seen one. Was he near water or mud?

Nice capture.....The yellow heads are not real common out here either. Last weekend, however, I saw quite a few of them at a dairy (for the first time). I'm planning to take my camera with me on my next visit and try to get a few shots.

There was a flock of them, maybe 20. There's ponds around this area,and there has been a lot of rain this spring. But they where mainly in a horse pasture. They would fly to trees when I got to close.

I was using the Sigma 100-300 f4 with a 1.4 conveter. I'd like to have something longer but can't decide on a lens.:confused:

I was just wondering, cause one of my books also said they like to work the muddy banks of streams or even puddles for bugs. :)

I just got the Bigma, and came from a Canon 400L before that and a 100-400L IS before that. Unless your really well heeled, the Bigma is a fine lens at a great price, although I'd like to have both that and the 400L. :)
