Results:
I felt a little disappointed with myself now to have returned from a golf weekend trip last night and to have seen a few entries and a PM from fellow forumer asking me to clarify what is a study room. I should have added more information regarding it.
Nevertheless, the lack of entries made my job easier for judging.
The top three winners are:
1st - rowdyred94 - The Installation Wizard
Great lighting, un-cluster background - love that wall colour! Extra bonus point for displaying the challenge title. Most inspiring!
2nd - rpolitsr - Old and New
Clever example of old and new. Well organised study room. So where's all the books? Great job!
3rd - G2 - Personal Study
Indeed a place to do a bit of studies - magazines or newspapers, or just planning for the day. I would love to see B/W conversion of this photo. Well done!
Thank you for letting me in to your studies. ;)

Congrats to Red, I had PM'd thanking him for posting!! lol
When I read the challenge, for some reason I just walked down
the hall to the bathroom where I work and opened the door
and got the shot, I must travel in different circles as I don't
know anyone that has a Study in their homes, would be nice
to have, sorry I couldn't really help you in that!

Thanks. The competition was fierce. :-)
I had no idea what to shoot in this mess of mine. Then I saw him, standing there, all indignant. He was my answer. LOL.
Mr, Polit, nice shot. I'm envious of your setup.

Congratulations friends, certainly clever interpretations and nice pictures.
Thank you Boutty for hosting.
Well done.
Clever example of old and new. Well organised study room. So where's all the books? Great job!
I used Commodore Amiga computers many years before my first PC, the Compaq Presario at left (1994). Now I have this not-so-new but powerful DELL computer running Windows XP Professional. The old, the new.
I’m also feeling myself somewhat old as I am the grandfather of the newborn at right.
That completed the idea: the old Corel Photo-Paint 7 displaying a scanned picture of the grandfather in the old computer and PhotoShop CS in the new DELL displaying a Canon A540’s picture of my grandson at right.
Boutty, rowdyred94, my computer desk is the only un-cluttered place at home, and there I spend most of the time both for work and hobbies.
The books? Well, that IS the real wrong question. They are everywhere at home: on cluttered bookshelves (http://sites.google.com/site/rpolitsr/r_polit_3/pictures/potnentries/117_books_9496.jpg) sharing space with some of my kites, on high shelves (http://sites.google.com/site/rpolitsr/r_polit_3/pictures/potnentries/117_books_9497.jpg) near the ceiling, near the workbench (http://sites.google.com/site/rpolitsr/r_polit_3/pictures/potnentries/117_books_9498.jpg) or in boxes, waiting to fill this small free space (http://sites.google.com/site/rpolitsr/r_polit_3/pictures/potnentries/117_books_9499.jpg).
http://sites.google.com/site/rpolitsr/r_polit_3/pictures/potnresized/117_books_9496.jpg (http://sites.google.com/site/rpolitsr/r_polit_3/pictures/potnentries/117_books_9496.jpg) http://sites.google.com/site/rpolitsr/r_polit_3/pictures/potnresized/117_books_9497.jpg (http://sites.google.com/site/rpolitsr/r_polit_3/pictures/potnentries/117_books_9497.jpg) http://sites.google.com/site/rpolitsr/r_polit_3/pictures/potnresized/117_books_9498.jpg (http://sites.google.com/site/rpolitsr/r_polit_3/pictures/potnentries/117_books_9498.jpg) http://sites.google.com/site/rpolitsr/r_polit_3/pictures/potnresized/117_books_9499.jpg (http://sites.google.com/site/rpolitsr/r_polit_3/pictures/potnentries/117_books_9499.jpg) :)

I used Commodore Amiga computers many years before my first PC...
My first PC, okay game computer, was a Commodore 64. ;) It found it's way back after several times my wife put it in our hard rubbish collection days. One day I shall hook up it and let my kids play games. Do you remember the commands? load "*" ,8,1 (yes, I have a disk drive with it.)

Hi, marie.
Thanks for your words. Certainly newborns are the only happy reason for a hospital visit. Hope things will be better with your family soon.
There is no pressure to see your pictures posted, but many of us like them a lot.
You have an extraordinary intuition to show people natural in quite unusual poses or situations, and a lot of humor too. Thanks for sharing.

Oh yes! My third computer, some 25 years ago. I ran even a powerful spreadsheet with account keeping programs on it.
Of course, it shined for games and graphics on its 320x200 pixels color screen.
Below full size, full resolution ‘splash screen’ with a ‘hello word’ equivalent Basic program and a full color (9 out of 16 available colors displayed) game screen.

Powerful days of 64 Kbytes memory computers, and yes, my sons loved it and learned a lot on it. :) :)

no way, i used to play 'Defender of the Crown' , but on a ZX Spectrum (a speccy) now that certainly brings back memories! I've fired many catapults, and rescued many damsels in distress in that game. It was a shame the games took so long to load up from tape with that fantastic command syntax: LOAD ""

That's right Andrew, this brings back some fond memories indeed. Thanks sir rafael. Never play 'Defender of the Crown' but, Lode Runner I & II (http://www.classic-pc-games.com/c64/games/lode_runner.html) were my favourites - used to play the games until 3am in the morning. It was about 25 years ago, I bought my C64 from a Malaysian friend who came to Aust. to study electronic engineering - he made EPROM cartridges for me so that some of the programs would be pre-loaded - a bit like USB sticks for these days!?! :p

they are a wonder even now

Sorry for not entering this challenge, I do not have a study of my own as they have been sequestered by my wife and son. I have been relegated to the kitchen table :) lack of space here in NYC, you know.

Not to worry Pio, at least your 'study' is indoor!
My 'study' is in the garage; on rainy days, it needs protection. :p

By the way, is anyone of you old Commodore users using the "SID player" to play the old Commodore tunes? It emulates the C64 Sound Chip and you can run it on a PC to catch up with those old sounds... I occasionally have a listen to some old tracks, but I converted a few to MP3 also to play in my car. Some of my Favourites are 'Commando', and 'Tetroid' (<<although I have never played such a game)
And to add a bit more on this theme, has anyone heard of a drummer called 'Duracell' that is currently playing old school GAMES tunes by himself, with an elaborate Electronic Setup and a drum kit. He is described as a 'One Man 8-Bit Boy Band' : ) well, anyway, if you want to be partially deafened, and partially astonished at the same time [and also reminisce some old tunes] check this video I found of him performing:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zGeX-SgPsIA
(maybe hide your dogs, and cats as I am sure they will not like these tones...)

Sounds interesting Andrew. Where can I get this 'SID player'?
andrewaaa5
26th of June 2007 (Tue), 07:23
Assuming you have Windows, you should be able to get the player here:
http://www.gsldata.se/c64/spw/
but then you need the SID files to play on the player, and you can get a load in a big zip file here:
http://www.hvsc.c64.org/
Note, it is a not a nice graphical interface, i.e not like WinAmp, or FooBar2000, or WindowsMedia Player, but it had the ability to play those lovely old C64 SID files :)
