If anyone has this printer, I guess I need some help. I want to print B&W but no matter what I have tried all my B&W prints come out with a bluish tint to them. Gray isnt really true gray its more of a blue gray, black isnt really black its more of a black with a hint of blue....I have tried everything the manual says and what it doesnt say. My last effort will be to remove all the ink tanks except black. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try changing your "paper type" to plain. The problem is that canon black ink puddles. When you have photo paper selected, black is composited from all the other colors.

Gave your suggestion a try and now it has more of a orange hue...not so much blue but still not true gray. Weird...I tried the grayscale option and still its not true gray...

Hi.
I am in Australia and although I use digital I love B & W. Sourced out a range of black inks from the Lyson company. When used with the ink profile and Lyson b & W paper to suit results are as good as any traditional b&w print.
Slight problem, unless you have two printers is swapping the inks, but there is no contamination just one or two cleaing cycles and things are back to normal, you will not be disappointed. :)
