just in case you had $60.00 burning a hole in your pocket, Kirk has produced a G7 plate that allows access to the battery and card while the camera remains affixed to the tripod. I couldn't help myself and bought one. Works as advertised. For me, it beats removing the plate or de-mounting the camera each time I want to access the door.
