crane fly macro

I wondered about these leggy bugs for years. I concluded that they were some large odd specie of mosquito. They are a bug to itelf that hatches in the yard in large numbers in May.The warm brown house siding and window screens draws them.:D

Wow! I love the silver-grey background against the reds and greys of the cranefly's body. That shimmer on the wings is mezmerizing, too!
