Can I use this flash on my Rebel XT? I just got it today and I've taken a half dozen shots and everyone is over-exposed and the shutter speed is like the camera is set to bulb. I have the camera set to auto. I also read that the flash could generate too much voltage; is that true?
Thanks
Sorry, I posted this in the wrong group.

The Sunpak 433AF doesn't support Canon's E-TTL metering. As a result it will always flash at full power.. To use this flash, you'll have to set the camera in Manual mode and figure out the correct shutter speed and aperture on your own....
As far as damaging your camera... Early Digital EOS cameras were limited to 6 volts on the shoe.. Some flashes produce over 200V which would result in damage the camera. From what I've heard, the new EOS digicams can now take the high voltage safely... Since you've used the flash without smoking your camera, I'd say it was safe to use :)

Thanks. I just got it yesterday, so I'm going to return to B&H. Ordered online.

I have a 433AF and it will fire on the 20D but every shot is at full power and blown so bad some are about all white. I don't know about the volts. I only tried it a few days, not a whole lot of shots, then bought the Sigma EF500 DG Super. The 433AF is in a box in the closet withe the Elan IIe.
