Looking at weight of 70-200 F4, will this lens be to heavy for the mounts on my xt. (kinda late now anyways ordered it already). Sorry if this is a dumb question guess these are the things that pop in my head when i have to wait for my lens.

You're fine. It's not that heavy... ;)

No you are perfectly fine the XT can support a 33 pound 1200mm f/5.6L

That's not a particularly heavy lens at all.

Nah it wont be that heavy, but will make the kit lens feel like a paper clip.

The 70-200mm f/4 is not too heavy for the lens mount on an XT. However, if using a tripod, you may wish to attach the lens - and not the XT - to the tripod, via a tripod collar. And let the XT body hang free, as opposed to mounting the tripod to the XT and letting the lens hang free.

Frankly, the 70-200 is small and light enough that it's not a huge, incredibly important consideration. But in general, with long, heavy lenses, and relatively lightweight cameras, this is the way to go. (Or use two tripods, and support both the lens and the camera. Or use some accessory gadget that provides support to both.)

Similarly, were I carrying an XT w/70-200mm lens, I'd probably opt to grip it around the lens, and not the XT body.

Heh, well actually the 1200 would be the one doing the supporting. ;)

Well, as been said here, it's definitely not too heavy. The problem is that lightweight lenses will feel like feather lenses after you've gotten used to the 70-200L.

Do you have a grip on your body? it balances out the lens (although makign the setup even heavier)

lets leave it at this... i was carrying around a friend's 300f2.8IS on my xt for a track meet. i had both the lens strap and camera strap around my neck. my friend is careless with his equipment and never adjusted the strap, and the strap came undone. full 6.5lb got transfered from the lens strap to the camera strap with a 2 in fall between. the xt was perfectly fine. if you think a 70-200f4 is going to do something to your plastic mount, think again... besides, i regularly carry my xt with my 70-200f2.8IS, and it's perfectly good
