I am still using the 4X Scandisk CF Cards a couple 128's and a 256. They seem to be holding up fine. Is there any bennefit to the faster cards for the 10D? Anyone try the new 640mb cards to match the CDR's? Where is the best place to purchase CF Cards?

There is a fair benefit to using the faster CF cards, and it is just that. The 10D doesn't have the WA technology so chuck that idea away. In that case it will act like a normal 40x CF card. Check out this link:

Consider this: the no frills Sandisk writes at JPEG Large/Fine at 753K/sec and RAW at 739K/sec to the fastest which is Sandisk Extreme at 1415K/sec and 1384K/sec respectively.

Have a look at the link above and go from there.

This has been discussed here endlessly - check the latest active thread:

You won't get all of the speed you pay for, but the faster cards perform better than the slower ones.

Scandisk Ultra's only, I like these cards. I have 512's 1gig's and now 2gig. I don't think I will go any higher than that. I like the 512's for the 10D and the 1gig's and 2 gig for the MKII.

I forgot to mention that I have 2x 512MB no frills cards from end April last year. I believe one is a rebadged SanDisk (bought from Jessops, a chain camera dealer over here) and a Hama (German) CF cards.

I use 2 x 512MB (standard) Sandisk cards with my 10D. Fast enough for me :D

BTW i also have a 256MB Sandisk and a 128MB AVL. But those are for my G5 which i use when not wanting/able to take my 10D with me.

Oh... almost forgot... For some unknown reason, i can“t download pics with my Sandisk 6in1 USB2.0 card reader from my AVL CF-II card. But (AVL) download works with no problem from my cameras. :?

I try and buy from buy.com when they have a deal. The last card I purchased at B&H for the MK II, I picked up a 2gig. I think I will only buy 2 gig's they are expensive but worth it. I will buy one every other month.
