This is a place at my uni, the building is called scientia.
Any thoughts on how I can improve the composition? This is at the base, looking up at the scientia. I quite like the colours and lighting, but you can critique that too.
350D, 17-55 EF-S @ 17mm, ISO1600, f2.8, 1/8, handheld (no tripod at time), no filters. No post-processing, this is the JPEG resized.

I hope you shot this in RAW. Post processing would fix the clipped highlights and provide a correct setting of the black point.
The composition and interest are excellent. Congratulations!
For those that follow my critiques, I agree that I am ignoring converging verticals and the lack of foundation for an architectural subject. This, however, is a dramatic and artistic treatment that just happens to be architectural - so the "dramatic and artistic" qualities outweigh other considerations, in my opinion.

Im going to have to disagree, I find the composition to be rather off.
I looks like someone was walking under it and look up and took a snapshot.
I find myself distracted by the blown out areas and the building on the left with the details of what looks like the most interesting part dark and hard to make out because once I reach it the lines lead into the dark zone.
The sky is a rather unreal color.
