well here goes: I'm trying to find out the best way to print 8 x 10's at an event I'm shooting. what i do is take pictures of canoe races. I'd like to have the prints available at the finish line, but don't want the expense of printing everyone. has anyone experimented with monitors to display all in a slide show and then only printing the ones people want to purchase?

i take an old computer with a big moniter and a mouse, make a lightroom html gallery on the laptop, put it on the old computer and open it in full screen mode, let people browse through and pick out the ones they want, then print off the laptop while the next person is browsing through the gallery on the old computer.

we use Kodak 1400 sub-dye printers, not bad for a 300 printer cost about 80 bucks for (50) ink/paper. we also have 2 viewing stations and print off a laptop thats connected to all the printers

We use older laptops to veiw with set them up hard code an ip address and hook them up to a router. Then i have a better laptop for a server and an even better laptop to do he croping and printing. On the server laptop we use Picassa 2 and make a web page with the pictures and store all the pics on the server. On the veiw laptops customers veiw the web pages and pic out the picture they want write the picture number and size on order forms on a clipboard beside the laptop They hand it to the person on the crop laptop they crop it and print.
If you would like more info on this let me know I know I didnt explain this very well I was at the dentist today and had a tooth pulled and on pain meds.
You can get used laptops on the dell website pretty cheap.
