Here are the two CF cards I'm trying to decide on. After rebate the Kingston comes out to about 75% of the Lexar (B&H). Is there any reason why I shouldn't pick the Kingston? Is the Lexar substantially better in some way?

Lexar 2GB 133x CompactFlash Card with Write Acceleration (WA) Technology $39 (after rebate)

<H1>Kingston 2GB Ultimate 133X CompactFlash Memory Card $30 (after rebate)

How about the SanDisk 2GB Extreme IV for $34.95 after rebate?

... or the SanDisk 4GB Extreme III for $39.95 after rebate?

On this forum alone, i have read about tons of Lexar card problems but not a single Kingston card issue. I have 5 Kingston Elite Pro cards and i'm very happy with the performance and reliability.

Make sure that you are not choosing cards based on an arbitrary number. the 133X is really meaningless in any context except marketing.

I started with two cheap Lexar cards and both failed. I switched to Sandisk Extreme and haven't had any fail since.

Failures are going to happen eventually in any brand. My choice is to get the most highly rated cards of whatever brand I am using to try to get a lower incidence of failure.

I have 2 Lexar and 4 Kingston cards and never a problem with any. The only flash drive problem I have had was with a Sandisc card (I have 3 of those).

Meaning the Ultra II and Extreme III are just as arbitrary right? I know they all run slightly different but still. There was a link someone had, showed all the speeds with a 30D.

Been using Lexar since day one and never had a problem. Work great and they're my faster cards.

Kingstons tend to run slower than advertised with Canon's.
See here http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/multi_page.asp?cid=6007

Ridata's 150x 2g CF cards are about $21 at newegg. I have two and they have been faultless so far.

I, personally, like Lexar and Sandisk, but then again I have never used Kingston.

i have the kingston 133x, works fine but i feel like it's a bit slow, which makes sense looking at rob g's flash test numbers. am happy with the cards overall because i don't shoot burst. but i'll try sandisk next, the ultra 2 sandisk routinely sell for $35 without rebate in local stores like circuity city and best buy (at least they have the last few months).

I got Kingston 133x 8GB CF card which I am using 1D and my father uses Kodak Pro SLR/n which he found that it not compatible with...... After that he bought a Lexar 8GB 133x card which work flowlessly......
It seem to be kingston not very combatible with some camera

No. Just meaning you need to look at the actual speeds, not the X speed.

Used a 1GB 80x speed on my XT for over a year. I wonder what the real statistics are on things like that. IS just a few to wear Canon goes ahead and alerts people or do they wait till there are alot.

It was a whole series of Lexar cards - Look back a year or so and there were a bunch of people reporting this here alone.

My best vote would be Kingston or Sandisc
