House of Blues A.C. Concert Lens

I have tickets in Row B (second row from the stage) to see a show (LeAnn Rimes) at The House of Blues. Can anyone offer some tips on what lens(s) would be ideal from this distance. Would a 2.8 zoom suffice (and which one) or should I look at a prime. I am assuming I will have to crack up the ISO in either case. I am shooting in RAW, would I still try to expose to the right? Sorry for so many questions, but I have very little experience in this type of setting.

Without buying anything, the 24-105L should work. There should be enough light from the stage. I've seen some good 30D pics at higher ISO so personally I'd think you'd be fine. Concerts I've shot at form the back @ 300 F5.6 turned out fine. Low ISO too.

There's also using this as a good reason to get a Brick.

Make sure the venue is cool with cameras. Wouldn't surprise me if they have some restrictions.

P&S wise they're ok. I assumed you had the freedom to do it. Yeah, hardly anywhere lets you take in pro cameras.

yea even with small concerts i been to, i couldnt bring in my camera except for p&s which sucks. unless you have some type of media pass. in any case probably best to ask ahead of time just to be sure?

That's why i got the S3. Zoom and great P&S, not professional. I get stares though from the guys when I go through like they want to say something but I shrug saying it's not pro.

Hm...now I thought of something about the S5. Still not pro but I can bring in a better flash. Yeah, then they'd cut down on that. Nvm

Canon 50 f/1.4 or Sigma 30 f/1.4

F/2.8 will likely leave you with lots of motion blur in most circumstances. I doubt the lighting will be like a stage play, but more like fairly dark with colored spotlights.
