Well I am now on my second 10D and the F'ing thing won's shut off after a time of no use either. I don't get it. I call Cannon & he said his shut off just find, and he had never heard of it not working before. But I have two of the M-F'ers. So now I have to pay shipping to Canon for them to look at it. Just my luck.

OK done venting, thanks,
Scot

What kind of lense do you have on it?
Could that possably make a difference?

Jsut a guess.

It is a 135mm 2.8 Canon lens. Don't know how that could make a difference. That is the only lens I have for it currently, and I used the same battery in both cameras. I have charged it twice already.

I tried 1 min, 2 min, 5 min & 8 min & none worked.

THe only thing i can think of is: did you set the in-camera clock?

did you try other lenses on it? (at the store, if you don't have any other ones)

are you sure you're not pressing any buttons?

if all of these are OK - send it to Canon. If you can afford 10D, you should be able to afford $10 for shipping.

I just got the vertical grip back from Canon yesterday - under warranty - one of the contact pins got stuck pressed in so buttons didn't work on the grip. Took 'em about 1 month (including UPS-2 day shipping both ways).
