Trying my new lens. Had to cut in a lot for 1st shot.
The 2nd shot, I believe, are a pair of Rough Leg Buzards? Any help with ID for this shot please?

They're common buzzards not rough-legged.

Love Gigrin Farm, I've done three shoots there myself. Planning on another visit as soon as my 1D mkIII arrives to test it out :D

They aren't sharp i had to cut a lot to fill the frame. I have taken time to look through some of the shots I took and these are sharper:

Thanks for clarifying.

It's a great place to get shots of all kind of birds. We will be going back within the next few weeks.

As well as some strange combinations, I snapped this gangster boss with his two 'minders' on a visit there. Unfortunately light was low and I was wide open so DOF has suffered and the buzzards are OOF.

(love your buzzard action shot and the last kite shot by the way :))

Nice shots paul, was the lens a little short for the Kite Farm??
You can borrow my 1.4x extender any time, just give me a shout.

Hi Sandpiper, it is a strange to see Crows and Buzards not fighting, I am used to seeing them fighting in the air. We also spotted the 'WHITE' Red Kite in the distance, we hope to see it closer next time.

Thanks John, I think I need another canon body to put my 300L on. I spent a lot of time changing lenses.

You need to hang around a while after the main action is over. I stay in the hides for a good hour or more after the main action is finished and
everyone else has gone. Sadly the kites, like many creatures, can be 'racist' and pick on those that look different. One of the white kites was killed last year, by the other kites, and the one that is left is cautious around them so tends to wait until the end when it is quieter. The other kites also become less frenetic at this time and can spend time sitting on the ground to feed, like the buzzards do.

I got some shots of the white kite last time I was there (quite close, although these are cropped a bit):

Well done capturing the White Kite. I like No2, it is sharp and it's head is in an unusual position; you see lots of shots of heads in the normal positions.
