View Full Version : borderless printing...how does it do that?

Occasionally, I print 'borderless' on my Epson 2200 (using pre-cut 4x6's)...I thought I would save by not having to trim.
But I always wonder if these nozzles are truly printing edge-to-edge and not a pixel over, or are they overshooting the edge with excess ink ending up who knows where, especially if I don't align my paper perfectly. I have a print with what I think is excess ink ending up on the back of the print on the edge. Anyone have some insights?

Also, when you clean the nozzles, where does the cleaned-off stuff go?

thanks

as far as canon printers go (and I am pretty sure this would be the same
for all borderless printers) they overshoot the edge of the paper, so
that a small part of the image is 'printed' onto to the surrounding bits of the printer. Look inside a printer that has done a lot of borderless prints
and if it aint been cleaned then you will see the mess .... and yes that can get onto the back of following prints.

As for ink cleaning I think there are small storage pots where the cleaned ink goes - when canon printer technician came to service some printers here I know that was on the things he checks etc
