Why, other than the stickies, does it seem that the only photography book the members here recommend is Bryan Peterson's "Understanding Exposure"? I'm sure it's an excellent book and all that, but it's certainly not the only one out there. You guys getting a kickback or something? :D :D

Here's one answer. "Understanding Exposure" meets more of the needs of more of the people who ask for recommendations, and the people who don't ask for recommendations but plainly need help.

Here's another answer. It isn't the only one. I did a quick search on the forum and in the last week alone the following books have been recommended at various time sdto various people (plus no doubt loads that I didn't pick up):
* "The DAM Book: Digital Asset Management for Photographers" by Peter Krogh
* "The Digital Photography Book" by Scott Kelby
* "The Best of Wedding Photojournalism: Techniques and Images from the Pros" by Bill Hurter
* "Studio Lighting Made Simple" by Scott Smith
* "The Complete Guide to Light & Lighting in Digital Photography" by Michael Freeman
* "The Art of Portrait Photography: Creative Lighting Techniques and Strategies" by Michael Grecco
* "Light: Science & Magic" by Fil Hunter
* "Canon EOS 30D Digital Field Guide" published by Wiley
* Canon EOS Digital Rebel (Magic Lantern Guide)
* "Photoshop CS2 for Digital Photographers" by Scott Kelby
* "Photoshop Restoration & Retouching" by Katrin Eismann
* "Adobe Photoshop for Photographers' by Martin Evening
* "Real World Color Management" by Bruce Fraser
* "Real World Camera Raw" by Bruce Fraser
* "The Photoshop Elements 4 Book for Digital Photographers" by Scott Kelby

My favorite photography book is "More Joy Of Photography" it has been out of print for some time, so look for it used. This book helped me develope my creative thinking, more than any other durring my college days...

For Photoshop books I highly recomend Dan Margulis
Photoshop LAB Color
Professional Photoshop

Ansel Adams also wrote some very insightfull books.
What a depressing guy though.....I mean he wrote a whole book on photography called the Negative

Our favorite book is The Digital Photography Book by Scott Kelby. It has tips for almost all parts of photography and is really easy to read and understand.

I really like "The Digital Photography Book" and "Photoshop Elements 5" both by Scott Kelby. Easy reads, packed w/ tips and great for newbies like me! :)
