Hi,
I am looking for solution how to use digital camera e.g.A610 or any other
as webcam.
I know it is more expensive, but I need good optics to handle
low distances from monitored object 5-15 cm. Available webcams are not suitable for this. This is for my project and so far I am not able to google anything useful.
Is anyone able to help with this?

thanks,
gopo

The PowerShots won't do this. AFAIK you'll need to get a video camera if you want a Canon which can.

i looked into doing this a while back and it's not very widely supported. Some people managed to make certain cameras work but as stated above, it's not really possible without a workaround and extra hardware

I did find one program called PSRemote that let me see a live view from my S3 and do remote capture and work the zoom, aperture, shutter, etc..

but the pc didn't recognize it as a webcam which was the only thing I needed it to do

Hello again,
I have canon elura 70 for testing, but it is not working with USB.
I tested with Sony TRV22 and it worked OK. I can not find any USB driver for ELURA 70. Any suggestion?

Thanks,

Gopo

IIRC the Elura wants to use FireWire. Most video cameras use FireWire for video transfer and restrict USB to still image transfer and some camera settings.
