I have been trying for a half decent shot of a Great Blue Heron since early spring. They have been particularly wary this year, and I have taken lots of low quality shots of them fleeing my presence.
Yesterday I was at the local river park when this one flew by, overlooking me at first. I had taken several shots the day before that were blown, so I reduced to -2/3 EV for the bright sunlight.

Nice capture. I think I must hold the record for number of shots of the back end of a GBH flying into the distance. :)

Great angle on the GBH in-flight! I too get more of them flying away from me than any others! Maddening! Good shot, Joe!

Thanks, Dennis. I was happy to catch him coming rather than going. :)

Thanks, Deb. Not as sharp as I would like, but after two months of hunting, I'm pretty happy with it.
