...just a note to let you know that BreezeBrowser version 2 is now available for download at http://www.breezesys.com/
I was very pleasantly surprised when I decided to pop over to check for a newer version of BB (I had v 1.5) :)
Not working for Chris, just a very happy BB user. :D

Thanks,Rudi. Not being content with the Canon browser furnished with my G2, I eagerly went to the BB site -- to find they don't support Mac!
Is there anything out there of equivalent quality that will work on the Mac platform??
Thanks to anyone who can give me a hand........

Thanks for the tip, Rudi.
I just downloaded version 2.0 and would suggest that every BreezeBrowser user do the same. One dramatic change is the ability to use a "Combined" RAW conversion in addition to Normal and Linear. The combined technique apparently uses both types of conversion together to create a file that is substantially different from Normal. Whether it's to your liking is something you'll have to test.
You might want to convert the same file using Normal and Combined and then use a viewer such as ACDSee that allows you to flip back and forth between the two images to see the differences. In my experience, side-by-side comparison will not highlight the differences as well as the flip method.
I have never had any luck with Linear conversions and Photoshop actions, so Chris's new method offers an alternative to straight linear conversion. My own experience on four photos is that it knocks off glaring highlights and brings up faint detail, but try it for yourself.

"Combined" is not available for G1 photos, by the way.

Don,
FYI, the combined conversion was available in version 1.5, but not previously.
I, too, have found that for most applications, the combined method seems to do just that little bit better than a normal conversion (and I have not had much luck with straight linear conversion either, I always had to adjust the colour temperature after a linear conversion, and the photos just did not look "right" after a linear conversion).
The combined conversion takes about twice as long on your computer, but if you're looking to get the absolute maximum information out of your RAW files, it's highly recommended!

Hi Rudi,
This is so typical of my computing life -- finding a feature in a new program version that existed in the one I was using. I was praising Photoshop 7 the other day for its perspective cropping when someone mentioned it was in 6.01 as well.
You're also right about the conversion speed.
Cheers,
Don

Hi Don,
Why, it's never ever happened to me! (yeah, right!) :D

Hello everyone,
I am a newbie to BreezeBrowser...actually a newbie to digital photography. I am trying to arrange a slideshow for my wedding but after taking the photos with my digital camera S40, I CAN'T sort them into the order that I want for the slideshow. I have downloaded Breezebrowser 2.0 but how do I rearrange the order of my photos? can this be done on Canon's Zoombrowser? Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!

How would you like to view your slideshow ... on the internet ? VCD/DVD ? PC only ?
Let me know and I'll try and point you in (one of the many) right directions :-)

thanks!!
I just want to be able to organize the photos in the order that i wanted and hook up the PC to LCD projector and do the slideshow using the Zoombrowser. It will save me time from moving each photo into powerpoint slide show.
thanks again

Hmmm .... it's interesting you asking this question - I thought this would be nice and straight forward, but none of the software I use does this very well. However, my thoughts (for what they are worth!):
1) Go through your images and decide on the order you want - rename each image to something like slideshowxxx.jpg where xxx is the next number in sequence. This will put all your images that you want to slideshow in the correct alphabetical sequence for you. Most software will be able to slideshow sorted on filename.
Job done - but a bit long winded if you have a lot of images.
2) Have you got a CD writer ? Why not create a VCD of your images. VCD 2.0 supports MPEG still images which are (roughly) 704x576 for PAL. Get hold of Ulead DVD PictureShow. You can simply drag and drop the pictures in to a line, putting them in the order you want. This will then create a VCD that can be played in the large majority of DVD players and pretty much all PC's (although you will need a software VCD player - there are a number of good freeware one's around). If you have a DVD player, you can then have the option of running it from your PC/projector or through your DVD on to the telly.
Hope this helps a bit!
BTW, why not look at using Breezebrowser instead of Zoombrowser - much nicer software, and does a *load* more. Unfortunately, it still doesn't do your 'manual sort' slideshow though, but after you register the software (only $35 I think) you could always email the author and see if he fancies including it in a later release ? :-)

Irfanview is freeware, and includes a slideshow feature, where you can choose any pictures in any order. It takes a bit of time to figure out how to use it, but it's a very useful program. www.irfanview.com

I can't believe I missed this feature in a program I use at least once or twice a week!
Thanks for spotting it :)

You guys been very helpful.
Maybe a stupid question, but if I download IrfanView do I download my photos into Zoombrowzer and transfer the images to IrfanView (how?), or can I download directly to IrfanView (how?)
Thanks for the help guys...it's tough being a Newbie but hell of lots of fun.

If you're not using Breezebrowsers downloader companion program (I don't have any links to Chris honest - I just like the software!), then you use Zoombrowser to download from the camera - this will put the JPG's in a directory on your hard drive. Run Irfanview and press 'T' (to trigger the Thumbnail view) and browse away to your hearts content.
NB. If you chose the option to associate JPG file extensions with Irfanview, then simply dbl-clicking an image will start Irfanview.
Have fun!
Cheers,
Steve.

Irfanview. With this shareware prgogram, that can be downloaded and tried free, you can convert CRW to TIFF. He warns you this is slow. You can view thumbnails and open them and also see JpG and Tiff. It is a small program and fast. Great for a quick look at a file to see what it is. Sets up a desktop image quick and easy. It is also well supported if you have questions.
I would give it a look.

you can always rename your files to put them in the order you want them to show up. windows arranges files alphanumerically so label your first picture 1, 2, etc and they'll be in the order you want. I think it's the new photoshop, but it has a web based slide show now, kinda cool. here's what it looks like. http://www.rubber-monkey.net/nokidding/event_pictures/folklife/index.htm
acdsee also has a slide show cabablility.

Hi btcutter,
With BreezeBrowser 2.1, you can re-arrange the order
the photo in slideshow by drag-and-drop. It's a very
good feature.
Hope this helps.
