How about you? Central PA location, Harrisburg maybe? Maybe further north east to get some New Yorkers out as well.

Ideas?

I am down in Fawn Grove. If you keep it more central, I would be available.

I could probably do it. Shippensburg here. I wouldn't want to go farther east though. Gas = $$$

Photography On The Net. . .

I could be interested in something close to I-83.

Like Rick, I would be interested in attending an outing if near 83.

I've got nothing against Harrisburg, but less than 40 miles from Harrisburg is Lancaster, the Heart of the Amish Country, which might be a more appealing photographic choice in certain ways. It also has far more shopping than does Harrisburg, and is considerably more tourist-friendly, which could be a plus if one is going to be bringing along a spouse or kids, and possibly making an overnight trip out of it.

As it's an easy 90 minute drive from either Philadelphia or Baltimore, you might just get a pretty sizeable turnout.

Plus, it's an excuse to have dinner at Prudhomme's Lost Cajun Kitchen (run by chef Paul Prudhomme's nephew and his wife), which is one of my favorite casual restaurants. It's in Columbia, just a few miles outside of Lancaster.

I might be interested in Lancaster - even though its not near I-83, for me its a fun drive up US 1 then up US 222/272. The train museum and the Strasburg Railroad are both good venues, and there are lots of other great sights.

That's not to say its a lock, as my schedule is tight this time of year, but I don't want to suggest I'm stuck on I 83 - I just can't stray too far north or off the beaten track with gas at $3.00 per gallon.

Have Fun,

Eventhough I live right around the corner from Lancaster I've never shot anything there. Amish Country,

Sooo...Lancaster County?

Lancaster is due east of me by about 2 hours, depending on traffic, but I think I could make it.

It's easy enough to get to from I-83, though. Just take I-83 to Rt. 30 (Arsenal Rd.) East, and it'll take you right into Lancaster. The Rt. 30 part of the trip is maybe 20 minutes.

for me its a fun drive up US 1 then up US 222/272.

Are you around the Bel Air area, then? I'm here in Baltimore County, about 2 miles from I-83.

More like White Marsh.

IMHO, the US 1 route is a much more pleasant trip than the boring drive across US 30, and I think it might be a bit shorter - with the US 30 route you go north, then east, but the trip up US1 & 222/272 seems to be more direct from where I am.

Lancaster has some nice scenery, I drive out there every once and a while, never for pictures though. I believe there is even a Fuddruckers on 30 in Lancaster, I love the burgers there.

Yeah, the name's cool. They're a national chain of burger restaurants. I know of at least two of them in Lancaster. Details at http://www.fuddruckers.com

FR is good - home made burgers, fixins bar, etc..
Just don't make the easy mistake of switching the R and the F when saying the name.

I'd be up for an outing as well. I live pretty much exactly in the center of PA (Mifflinburg). I'll only be around for a couple more weeks, though before I leave to spend the summer in New Jersey. I'll be around next fall as a student at Penn State again.

One other thought - Rickett's Glen state park

I'll only attend an outing with Cody 'Scut' if he really has yellow eyes. ;)

I could buy some contacts..... Sorry, but they're hazel/green.

I got my splendid name in one of the old extremely long "general chat" threads.

So anyone want to pick a date for an activity? I'd be up for some landscapes in Lancaster or maybe some macro shooting at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Sqaure.

I'm in for some shooting depending on the date you guys pick. I live in Cleona (Lebanon Area) and am the same distance to Harrisurg as I am to Lancaster. Anyone ever think of a get together in Hershey as well? Maybe for the next one after this Lancaster get together?
