OK, I was thinking of the old Muppet's skit "pigs in space" LOL I am a nut what else can I say, here we have a tribute to the West Tennessee Strawberry Festival, and I thought they came out good enough to eat...
Shot with a AB400 9x36 strip soft box camera left a AB400 w/grid 20 degree on the boom as the hair light (Yes I can see hair on thees) and a gold 5 in 1 12x24 oval for front fill...
Tripod mounted Canon 20D with 24-70mm f/208L shot at ISO 100 1/250 sec. f/10 at 70mm used mirror lockup to avoid camera shake (makes for a super sharp image) black muslin draped over shooting table, covered with plexi to add reflections...
Color saturation/vibrancy and exposure set in Adobe Lightroom...

Thanks Mark... don't get to use succulent to many times in a day ;)
Jian, it has to do with my shooting space is semi-darked out with drapes... and I am controlling light with grids and exposure I find as long as the backdrop is a good 3 stops different than the subject it just gets black

wow! those are perfectly lit. it's clear you take great care with the details, and that makes all the difference in the world. these are beautiful!
i'm also glad you spelled out your setup so thoroughly, because i also use the 20d. how does shutter lockup work at 1/250? i thought that was just for super long exposures.

I have started adding this to my bag of tricks I can see a big difference in my images when they are magnified, in the past I only used it for time exposures but I find even at sync speed there is a bit of difference

Some burning is most definitely evident around the strawberries...

These guys are charming. You expect the big one to wisecrack in maybe Eddie Murphy's voice, and the little one punch right back... I'm hearing David Spade.

meter your ambient light at the background say it is f2.8 in a shaded studio... you just light your subject to have f/8 or f11 almost anycolor backdrop falls to black but if you start with a black drop it really gets dark... just my findings
and eveyone thanks for the wonderful comments
