Came across this adorable family wandering around through my campus one day. Next day I came back to school with camera in hand, and found them in the park which runs through the south part of campus. Pretty fun shoot, but I'm sure all you wildlife photogs can appreciate the difficulty of a shoot with wild animals.

(1) Momma hops up on the bank

(2) First few make it up, Mom stretches

(3) The first few help dry each other off before their afternoon nap

(4) A few more make it up, they finally notice me as I inch closer for the shot

(5) Only one left of the 12! This little guy had the toughest time getting up

(6) ... and he sure was making a lot of noise. Must've been worried that he'd miss nap time with all his brothers and sisters.

(7) He finally finds a less steep part of the bank to climb up!

(8.) And there's the whole family, getting snuggled up under the protection of Momma's wings.

Hope you all enjoyed those as much as I did. I'd love to hear your C&C.

Great shots, you should post them in the 1000 ducks thread in Birds. :)

FANTASTIC shots, I have tried often to get good duckling shots but yours are so much better.

Thanks for your comments, everyone!

Wendy, the thing I tried to commit myself to was to keep myself as low to the ground as possible for this shoot. I got pretty filthy by the end, but I think the shots were worth it ;D

You did a fantastic job of capturing this adorable duck family. The 2nd to last one is my favorite. Yes, I would say it was well worth it! ;)

A very nice series of shots. The problem with 1-5 and 7 is that the background of white flowers is competing with the ducks. It steals your eye away from the subjects.
Number 6 is outstanding, well framed and exposed. Number 6 has visual interest and no competing background.

I couldn't agree with you more. I was thinking the same thing when I was taking the shots, but there simply wasn't anything else I could've done about that. If I had moved, they'd have moved too. Thanks for taking the time to leave C&C, much appreciated.
