I'm having great difficulty getting Lightroom to install on my new PC operating Vista 64-bit. I have no problems with the Vista 32-bit system on my laptop.

Does anyone know if Lightroom will intall and run on Vista 64-bit?

I have it running sort of on 64 bit XP,. (not vista) but it regularly gives me low memory errors despite having 6GB installed.
Despite these errors messages, it still works though..
It just does not seem to be very 64 bit friendly.

Hi CDS,

Thanks for the quick reply - I agree. I'll just have to wait for an update and meanwhile continue via my 32-bit laptop.

Hey guys, sorry to jump in here, but I've got a technical question. I recently got a new Dell. 9200 XP Home w/ 6600 DC and 4 GB Ram(Max). However, on the CPU info screen only 3GB are read. I was told it's because I have a 32 bit system. I was also told I could upgrade by getting XP pro. Is this true? If I do this what are the benefits of 64bit. I have CS2 and Lightroom(working fine for me now) and planning to upgrade to CS3 soon.

Thanks for the help and sorry again!

This is not true, XP Pro is still 32 bit and you will see the same issue.

Only Vista 64bit or "Windows XP Professional x64 Edition" will make use of the rest of your RAM.
For 4GB I would not bother with the switch as you may find out how problematic it is with compatibility.

XP 64 bit IS in fact built on the XP Pro OS, but just getting Pro does nto get you 64 bit, as in fact 99.99% of all XP Pro installs are still 32 bit;
