View Full Version : Editorialized Links

I took the "best links" page on this forum and tried to make an editorialized version of it. It's just a first cut, I think I want to re-organize it a bit (try to give it some order, add a workflow section, etc), but the idea was to have a single, static web page that let me hit ctrl-f search for some critical word, and find it.

Most of the link pages are too simple (just the link, no description of the contents), too spread out over multiple web pages, or aren't selective enough (I don't intend to be comprehensive, but rather try to capture some of the "best and worst" so to speak.

Feedback is welcome.

Thanks,
Mike

It would look better if you used Canon as the proper name it is and made sure all usages of it were capitalized. Also, it sure isn't spelled cannon , (as in "BreezeBrowser -- It uses the cannon libraries under the hood"...) so correct all of those to Canon too.

I think you are going to kept busy correcting everyone's spelling/punctuation errors to make it look good Mike :D. It appears there are way too many lazy people on the www who won't take the time to run a free spell check on their work and maybe read it through to see how it does look.

You have a good idea there, I like it. Will keep an eye on it and see how you improve it.

Thanks for the observations. I, of course, was the idiot who doesn't know how to spell (not my fault, of course...American education system).

I corrected it and put out a new version.

Most of this is for my own edification. My interest in photography was becoming deep enough that I couldn't keep all the places I wanted to go. When I wanted to share things with people I would find myself spending 1/2 an hour in google trying to find the site.

In fact, there was this wedding photography site that was pretty good. Had this big long tutorial. I recently shot a friends wedding and used it. Now I can't seem to find the link....

Thanks,
Mike

Mike!

That's awesome!

If you don't mind.. I would like to edit the first post in the "Best links" thread and put a link to this page?

Is that O-kay with you?

Very good idea! :)

I don't mind at all. My goal was to create the page I wish google would spit out if it could read my mind and I typed in "digital photography" I'm sure many other people feel the same frustration.

I had started to go through that thread and read all the helpful info in the articles/websites... I never really got through it all the way.

Thanks for organizing it and speeding up our learning process.

Mike,
Add this one to your list:

http://www.sweeting.org/mark/lenses/

Some good information for sure. Helps you figure out what FOV (field of view) you can capture with a certain lens. I find it to be very good information.

That's pretty cool. So if I am going to a new york yankees game, and I'm sitting in the 3rd tier behind home plate, approximately 100 feet from home plate, and I want to get a shot of the ball crossing the plate (it'd be better if I could be up first base line, but I can't afford those seats), and I want to see if I need to bring my 28-135, or my 100-400, I would find that my 100-400 let's me get a full crop of 2.6 meters at home plate. Wide angle I find I get 10.76 meters, not really enough to capture the full diamond. So I would need both lenses.

Of course, if I could afford the 100-400, I could also afford the better seats :-)

I'll add it as soon as I get back (Currently in NYC for a yankees game).

Mike

p.s. of course my wife won't let me take the camera because she thinks we'll be mugged :-(
