Hey, I am new to these forums and I've already picked up lots of info from various posts. I have a Canon 400D and am now looking at purchasing the Canon 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 USM Mk2.

What do you guys think of this, has anyone got any experience using one and if so, what do you think?

Thanks :)

Awesomely sharp lens. Lightning fast ringUSM. One of the most underrated lens of our time. Get it quick!

You might be missing the wide end tho. Do you already own the 18-55 kit? If not, pick it up used here for ~$100.

Hey, thanks for the response - I have the 18-55 kit lens aswell as the EF 90-300mm f/4.5-5.6.

I've been looking at the 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 USM Mk2 and thought I'd see what you guys thought of it. Going by what you're saying it sounds like a good lens

Its an excellent lens for the money. Not as much contrast or saturation as an L lens, but these can be tweaked in Photoshop. Check this link for some images that I posted while doing a comparison of the 28-105 and the 24-105L.

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but how would you guys compare this lens to the 24-85 f3.5-4.5USM? thanks!

I had an early version and used it a lot as my walk around lens. Took many a fine photos with it.

I have 2 of the 28-105 lenses. It's a nice lens, and takes fine pictures, but since I got my 24-105L, the 28-105's haven't seen the light of day. ;)

I've got the same lens as well, very sharp and very fast focussing!

I had one, but I sold it because 28mm on a crop sensor was just not wide enough for me as a "walk-around" lens.

I have a 10-22 for wide angle, but I found that I was changing lenses for every other shot.

I replaced the 28-105 with the Sigma 17-70, which has a much more useful range on a cropped sensor dSLR.

According to reviews I have read the 24-85 is slightly superior.

I had the 28-105 Mark II for a year and I used it to learn about the DSLR world and focal lengths. It is a great lens. I passed it on to my daughter so she can learn as I did.

This lens is one the best "Return on Investment" lenses Canon sells. It is simply great for the price :)
