I'm finally purchasing a D-Rebel, and was just curious to see what you guys suggest about extended warranties and Canon DSLR's. When there is a problem with your gear, where do you take it for repairs? In your experiences, are the D-Rebel bodies succeptible to damage?

Thanks in advance.

I purchased the extended warranty for my D-Rebel for the peace of mind. I knew in most cases it is never used but there's is always that "What if" question. One thing about the extended warranty I like was that the place I bought it from covers the cost of the shipping.
When I was in the store deciding whether to purchase the extended warranty a customer was there who had just been given a new model camera as a replacement to his camera because it wasn't repairable or simply the cost to repair was more than the camera cost. He had purchased his camera almost 3 years prior which means his warranty was almost up. So simply put he ended up with a newer model, better camera than his original purchase.

Here is a thread that was started on how many people have actually used the warranty on their Canon camera's.

Mack has an excellent reputation for extended warranties. You must buy it within 30 days of buying your camera. You can get them at www.bhphotovideo.com. I bought one for my 1D MarkII.
While the camera is under a Canon warranty (first year), most people deal with Canon.
