I was hired to shoot a LL tournament last Saturday. First game was at 9 AM and not a cloud in the sky. Second game started at noon and it too was under bright sun. They were shot with a 1DN and a 300 2.8, with and without a 1.4 TC. C&C always welcomed and appreciated. EXIF is embedded.

these are all nice shots... call me crazy but I think I like
the 2nd to last one the best, not so much the background
but it has good face, motion and ball in frame...

Sledhed, I expect better young lad, ok ok, thats a lie, these are friggen great! REALLY good DOF, color, action, everything looks awsome...you did great here, especially with the sun and not having a cloud to work with. Hopefully I can get pics this good next week when I start shooting youth leagues.

Truly in a league of your own. These are great. I love the one with the ball on the bat. I'm downloading mine tonight and if they are even 1/4 as good as yours, then they'll be good enough to post.
Nice job.

Some of the best LL shots I've ever seen. Not only are the pictures great, the kids have great fundamental skills. Except maybe the last one swinging at a pitch so high. Then again, you wouldn't have gotten that wonderfully timed shot, now would you.

Absolutely outstanding Chris! If there's anything wrong with any of these then it would take a nit picker to find it. Love the "smokin' bat" and flying dirt in #2! Your client as well as parents and players must surely be thrilled with your splendid work.

Thanks for all of the kind words.
Mike - Your youth stuff will look as good or better, I look forward to seeing them. I'll see you next month at the MWL All-Star game at Kane County.
Jamey - Don't sell yourself short, let's see some of them. I can't shoot weddings (nor do I really want too).
Thanks Kevin - Let's see some of the combine shots.
Asysin2leads - I thought the same thing while I was watching them. They are very well coached and it shows. Both teams won their games by very large margins.
ridwan - That's a pretty hard question to answer. Look at the stickies, they give a lot of good tips.
Jerry - Thanks for the kind words. You set a very high standard for all of us baseball nuts around here to follow.

#2 ALL THE WAY! Man I love the "smoke" look of the bat. You can't get anything better...sweet! And of course, the ball on the bat one, well that is a given for awesome. Very nice work.

Splendid set, Slehed. Really diggin' #2 and #4.
I was gonna say someone needs to water the infield before the game, but then you wouldn't have gotten the dust action.

Hey Ronnie - The dust was a problem. I lost a lot of goood shots because of it. Luckily Pelican cases are weather proof and are dust sealed. The outside of the case was just covered with dust, but nice and clean inside. It took me a while to get the gear all cleaned up.

The 300 with the 1.4 extender to get to 420mm? I have not ventured into the higher ISO in daylight conditions to get additional shutter speed, based on these shots I will be.
Thanks for sharing the info!

I like the 4th one... the player is exhibiting perfect fielding fundamentals - eyes on ball, use two hands, square shoulders... :)
