I took this picture on Sunday at Golden Gate Canyon State Park in Colorado. This is 4 RAW's processed in LR and combined in CS3. I know it is a bit small but my only means of sharing pictures right now is via smugmug and I could not get a big file uploaded.

Nice job Frank. Doesn't look like it was horribly hazy. I'm going to have to try this some time. I'm sure the full size one looks great!

Want some tips for next time?

Your subject is too far away.
Shoot in portrait so its not loooooooooooooooong and thin
Dont shoot mid-day the light is horrible.
Pick an interesting subjet.
Shoot two thirds one third land/sky
Use an ND filter on the sky if its too bright
Dont be afraid to shoot double row (overlap 20% top/bottom and 25% sides)

A few samples

Thanks for the tips. Those are very useful and I will incorporate them into my next try.

I know it is a bit small but my only means of sharing pictures right now is via smugmug and I could not get a big file uploaded.Actually Frank, what you can do with SmugMug is make the small picture a link to the larger version.

The way you do it is that instead of inserting URL in your post, you insert <URL=BigURL>SmallURL
. (And of course you have to use "[" and "]" instead of "<" and ">", but if I did that you wouldn't be able to see the syntax.)

Like this:

Click on image for larger version.

Your original is 8034x1895 pixels, which is a bit cumbersome to view; on a standard 1024x768 screen it's about 8 screens wide and 2½ screens high. If you resized it so that the height was around 800 pixels (hence about 3400 pixels wide) then it woud make a great viewing experience - about 3 screens wide and 1 screen high.

Good luck!
