I like the design, it is simple and to the point.
I'm not sure if you want input on your "About me" text but I'll give it anyway. I would drop all of the growing up loving photography blurp. I would start it at the point where you say "Studying for a BA(Hons) Degree in "Visual Comunication". I guess it depends on what kind of message you are trying to convey here but I get the impression that this is a commercial venture. Does it matter to a potential customer that you had an instamatic 110. I've always found these about me statements where someone bought a camera and is now in love with photography a bit hokey. It is fine for a photo sharing site but, imo, not on a commercial venture sort of site. Just my opinion.
btw - communication is spelled wrong.

Fair enough.
Anything else I should include in the text?
I hate writing about myself!!!

Me too. It is very hard to do this.
You could speak to your style which you have to a degree. Some experience in commercial work. This page doesn't have to be huge just some relevant facts.

Another thing, is it better to write in the 1st or 3rd person?

Very nice job! I like the look, professional- I don't know what it looked like before but it's a great looking site.
I just got done on a re-design on my site- I also have black & white photos that turn to color when the mouse goes over the pictures on the home page.

I like it. The category names need to stand out better like the "Portrait" and "Product"... so I'd consider some images that give you a nice negative space to draft against. Anyway, it's simple and to the point. Maybe a flash album for the actual galleries would work a little nicer. The scrolling fine, but I think indy loading images would look better. Use the Lightbox code. You can customize the sizing in your html after it's together. Google: "Lightbox"

one of the best sites I have seen here. A lot like a very good looking flash template I had even somewhere before without flash.
