Total opitcal zoom with telephoto addon?

Hi, I'm new to this so I have no idea what I'm really do. I just wanted to know what my total optical zoom will be after adding the official canon telephoto lense onto my canon powershot a70? I have no idea on how to do this :( Sorry but thanks!

OK - I think it works like this

current A70 facts 35mm-105mm equivalent (so 105 / 35 = 3X optical zoom)

Canon telephoter for A70 is 2.4x, so 105 * 2.4 = 252

252 / 35 = 7.2X Optical Zoom

Wouldn't that be:
2.4 * (35 to 105mm) gives 84 to 252mm with the tele installed? Still giving 3x zoom.

7.2x would be the total zoom range with and without the tele adapter (35mm, no adapter) to (105mm with adapter).

Not meaning to nitpick, my point being that the greater zoom range includes mounting and de-mounting the adapter. It's still 3x with the adapter either on or off.

Yup understand that, although you won't get anything like 3x zoom with the teleconverter as vignetting kicks in.
