anyone know how i could speed up the tranfers of files from cf card to x drive 2. takes about 35mins for full 1gb lexar card, missed some shots at local racetrack cos it could not keep up with shooting, i also use a 512mb lexar. Might have to buy another 1GB to give more buffer. :?:

Which disk are you using?
My Xdrive II transfers my 1GB IBM MD in 20min, and a Lexar 256Mb 40x in 5m. I'm using a Toshiba 20Gb drive formatted in fat32 using linux.
The same Xdrive unit using an older Toshiba 6Gb drive formatted in fat32 using win98 (I don't know if that makes a difference) took exactly twice the time with the Lexar card (10m), so the disk used can change transfer times a lot.

using same disk, have done a trial 'under lab conditions' i.e. full cf card and stopwatch, took 59 minutes to transfer will check if drive is formatted to fat 32

I doubt it. Which was the transfer time of the 512 card?. In my case, transfer times were pretty constant among different cards (a PQI 256, a Lexar 256 40x WA and the 1GB MD). All were close to 50Mb/min (5min for the 256MB cards and 20min for the 1GB MD). I don't know if linux and windows uses the same cluster size during formating. If not, this can be the cause of the speed difference.
