got rebel xti/400d with kit lens(USM), just wanna ask if i need to buy a flash?!

You don't have to buy an external flash, but they're sure nice to have. External flashes allow you to bounce the light, get the flash off the lens axis (and reduce red eye), are more powerful, and don't use up your camera battey (among other advantages).

I'd definitely add a speedlite to any line up - i have always had an external flash unit. the main benefits are, reduced red-eye, more control over output, greater power, longer reach, ability to tilt and bounce and diffuse - giving far more control than you get with the on-board flash.
Plus it frees you up from needing to obsess about f/2.8 lenses - they need extra light indoors too

A flash comes in real handy when you need more light on your subject.
Unless you're a landscape shooter.
