Ok, since my last post yesterday about the Canon 28-300L coming out soon I have been looking at what other lens Canon has to offer. Right now I have a 20-35, 28-200, and my 70-200 2.8L. I originally was looking at the 35-350 to add but now I just dont know. I was going to wait for the 28-300 to come out, and then I started looking at the 100-400. Now I have started looking at the 300mm and 400mm primes. I just don't know which lens to get. Versatility is a concern for me but above all is the clarity. I need the sharpness and clarity of an image to make me happy. I typically shoot landscapes and waterfalls with the occasional baseball game here and there. I also shoot a few portraits here and there but the 70-200L is great for that. So with that all in mind, what lens do you recommend for me next. The 28-300L, 35-350L, 100-400L, 300mm 4.0L, 400mm 5.6L, or __________(fill in the blank). I don't mind the weight of lenses so that isnt a factor. Thanks for the input!

I'm not an expert here, however I would dare to recommend either the 35-350 or the 400 5,6. The reasons for the first one are that apparently you need at least some moderate wide angle which 100-400 does not offer, the reason for the second suggestion is undoubtfuly picture quality.

You do not need the 35-350 or the 28-300. You already have the low end well covered. I would suggest the 100-400 or the 400 or 500 primes. You can cover the 300 range with a 1.4x TC on the 70-200. And with the 400/500 prime you can get killer long coverage with the 1.4x TC. And you'll be nothing but satisfied with the results.
