I'm sort of a newbie here so excuse my post if it's in the wrong section.

I have been doing my birding mostly in Bolsa Chica wetlands and Eldorado park in Long Beach. I have only been shooting birds a short time and was wondering where you guys and gals go in the OC/LA area. I know about the back bay in Newport but I understand there is another place off Jamboree somewhere and many more besides. I was wondering if you guys/gals would be willing to share some of your favorite spots in this area. TIA....

Hi Gene, welcome to POTN :)

I'm in OC too and my favorite places besides the ones you mentioned already are the San Juaquin Wildlife Sanctuary (SJWS) in the corner of Harvard and Michelson in Irvine, and the Huntington Beach Central Park.

See you around :)

Central Park is neat. Lots of birds, big variety. If you ever get up to malibu, check out Malibu Creek State Park. Many Pelicans, at least when I was there. Park on PCH and walk to the beach.

Lake Balboa in the SFV. Kenny Hahn Park in the Baldwin Hills. Del Rey Lagoon Playa Del Rey---lots of ducks, gulls, pidgeons, sparrows, geese, coots, occasional egret, pelicans in the Ballona Creek (adjacent). Bring some poultry pellets.
