So after viewing a few of both others and my own photographs there is somethink I want and must have.... but is it available.
A grad that deepens only the top third or top quarter.
I want it.
Anyone know if there is such a thing?

That's why many of us get rectangular ones like Singh-Ray's (http://www.singh-ray.com/). They're rectangular and large enough that you can place the split exactly where you want. For that matter, they'll make one to your specs if you need.

I'll tell ya, I got 2 ND Grad filters from Singh-Ray. Is it possible to use those more than the actual camera? Cause I think I do!! EricL

Singh Ray are excellent products and each one comes in a luxurious cloth pouch.

However they run over $100 ea. and there are alternatives that are very good at about 1/2 the price. Look at the HiTech Graduated Neutral Density filters, in the USA this 2filter.com is a good source

$56 gets you one GND, Cokin filter holder and one adapter ring of your selected size.
The late Galen Rowell was a great supporter of GND filters and in his books recommended both hard and soft edge filters in both the 2 and 3 stop densities.
When adjusting them one tip from Rowell is to use your stop down preview button to help adjust the position of the filter. Its very, very hard to see the transition in the viewfinder without stopping down.
