Really, I cannot.
Because I'm an international user, and packages need to be flown quite a ways to reach me, I deferred my purchase of color calibration equipment for quite a while until my next 'batch' of purchases with B&H. At $59.95 for the Pantone Huey with the discount code, it's a steal. Absolutely.
It's tiny, it's barely longer than my index finger, not the brick I was expecting. I opened up the package and went "That's it? Wow."
Oh, but I ain't seen nothing yet.
It's DEAD SIMPLE to use. Install the software, plug it into a USB port, run the software. Five steps, less than 60 seconds later your monitor is wonderfully calibrated. I just CANNOT understand why I took so long and if I wanted to go wow I just needed to look at the difference between the calibrated and uncalibrated monitor profiles. Now that I've seen the calibrated one, I realize that my monitor had this horrible sick yellow tint to it. It's disgusting. No wonder my grays never rendered properly.
After calibration it reminds me of my favorite Sony FD Trinitron 17" monitor (which has long since passed on) and its unrivalled color rendition. I was lucky in those days, the FD Trins were so well made that they looked awesome straight out of the box. Wow. Just wow. I'm blown away. The grays are so much deeper and richer on my monitor now. The other colors have improved, but the grays see the biggest improvement.
For $59.95...JUST GO AND BUY IT. DON'T ASK TWICE. I haven't had anything knock my socks off in a long time, and now I do. I can't believe the difference. I always thought the monitor was 'good enough' on its own. Sure as heck IT AIN'T!! You think the Nifty Fifty is good value at $70, well, this is just as good as the Nifty and produces a heck of a lot more improvement. I haven't even started editing photos, I'm just reading POTN and it is SO much easier on my eyes.
I'm gonna calibrate EVERY display of mine now!! I have seen the light and I am kicking my own @ss at having waited so long...I suppose I was afraid that I would not see a difference, that the process would be excessively involved, or something. Well no, it isn't. Stick the thing to the monitor and walk away as it calibrates.
